Nwakaeme sidelined for two months after hamstring injury

Trabzonspor confirmed that Nigerian forward Anthony Nwakaeme will be out for around two months due to a hamstring issue. He sustained the injury during the season-opening fixture a 1-0 win over Kocaelispor—when he was replaced in the 84th minute by Arif Boşluk.

The club’s statement revealed that medical scans showed "a tear, bleeding, and widespread oedema in the posterior muscle and tendon of his left thigh." Treatment has begun under the club’s medical team.

Editorial

We sense the seriousness of this blow for both player and club. At 36, Anthony Nwakaeme remains integral to Trabzonspor’s ambitions this season, and losing such a seasoned forward at the outset poses a major test. His absence will likely affect attacking rhythm and the team’s depth.bet9ja.com

We believe that every offers an opportunity for resilience. This injury might well be a chance for other squad members to step up. It forces adjustments tactical tweaks, increased reliance on younger players, renewed focus on collective effort.bit.ly That could galvanise the side.bit.ly

We also reflect on the physical demands placed on seasoned professionals. At Nwakaeme’s age, recovery requires careful management.bit.ly The tear and associated muscle trauma highlighted in the scans demand both patience and precision in rehabilitation.bet9ja.com

We expect this period will test the club’s sports medicine capacity—and perhaps build a stronger return when Nwakaeme is fit. His recovery could rejuvenate his career and equip Hispano-Nigerian flair with fresh perspective.

We return to our starting idea Nwakaeme’s injury is a blow, but it might also be the catalyst for collective resurgence.

Did You Know?

Nwakaeme joined Trabzonspor in July 2024 on a free transfer from Saudi side Al-Fayha.

He wears the number 9 at Trabzonspor a number more typically associated with central strikers even though he plays as a left winger.

Nwakaeme was instrumental in Trabzonspor’s Süper Lig triumph in the 2021/22 season the first league title for the club in nearly 40 years.

His recent injury follows a seasonal pattern: he suffered a muscle injury in February April 2025, among other setbacks during the 2024–25 season.

Hamstring injuries—like the one Nwakaeme is experiencing have high recurrence rates in football, making a structured and phased rehabilitation approach essential for full recovery
